A world growing smaller makes learning another language increasingly important.  Students who learn a second language benefit in academic and practical ways:  they are able to communicate in a second language with people in their own country and in countries around the world, have an in-depth understanding of other cultures, and are better prepared for careers in our global economy.  Moreover, second language study enables students to gain greater insight and appreciation of their own language and acquire study skills that carry over to all other subject areas.  Therefore, most students can benefit significantly from the linguistic and cultural insights that are provided by an extended sequence in world languages available in the Yarmouth School System.

The following languages are offered at Yarmouth High School:
  • French I-V (AP)
  • Latin I-IV
  • Spanish I-V (AP)
Another great benefit of knowing another language and culture is the opportunity to travel.  View this slide show to see where in the world students at YHS have gone!
